Decorative ceilings

Many people have seen decorative ceilings some are original works of art and others are a poor excuse for design. The poor excuse for a designed ceiling we have all seen in newer homes and known as "popcorn" ceiling. I don't like this type of ceiling although it will take a lot of work to remove it and there are options it's not the type of decorative ceiling I speak of. The type I would call decorative are rarely done these days since the artisans are practically extinct who do this type of work.
Ceilings with skim coat of plaster in a random design and circles are very welcoming in my opinion. I heard recently on a decorating program that home buyers don't want this type of ceiling and home sellers are opting to drywall over top of it. I don't understand I think a decorative ceiling is more appealing then a plain drywalled one. I have one in my living room and would never cover it up. I would however, add pot lights as it would improve the lighting in the room and the ambiance too. Think twice when someonte suggests you cover up your decorative ceilings when theres nothing wrong with them. Sometimes there's no accounting for good taste.
